At this time of year, Common Mergansers gather on Chickadee Lake in the evening to sleep and disperse to the ocean shorelines during the morning. Quite a spactacle!
A pod of Orcas swam north up the Baynes Sound yesterday morning. These shots were taken from the 8:40 ferry from Denman to Buckley Bay. There are more Orca shots at http://denmanconservancy.blogspot.com/
A pair of lively beavers was seen in Railway Marsh this week in broad daylight. Lets hope they stay so that I can learn a little about dam construction.
This fine pair of Trumpeter Swans was seen on Railway Marsh this Tuesday during the weekly swan count. About 15-20 swans are wintering on Denman before flying back to their breeding grounds in the Yukon and Alaska.
